The best season to visit Madagascar is from April to October.
There are roughly two seasons in Madagascar: a hot and wet season from november to april, and a cool and dry season from may to october. However, there are important climatic variations as a result of altitude. The east coast has a subequatorial climate and bears the brunt of the trade winds and of the heaviest rainfall with an average of 3,5 metres a year.
The mountainous central areas are noticeably drier owing to altitude whereas the eastern areas are more humid. On the high lands the dry season is pleasant and sunny although somewhat ccol, especially in the morning.
The west coast is drier than both the east coast and the central highlands because the trade winds gradually lose their moisture when travelling from east to west. The south-west and the far east of Madagascar are semi-desertic with 0,3 metres rainfall a year.
