Madagascar has approximately 257 species of reptiles of which more than 90 percent are endemic.
largest reptile in Madagascar is the Nile crocodile (Crocodilus niloticus) which is severely threatened in the wild.

Lizards

The island has more than 12 differnet species of lizards of the Cordylididae family. 11 of them are endemic.

Snakes

Madagascar has more than 60 species of snakes, none of which are venimous. Boas hold the most interest for the geologues as their closest family members live in south america thus demonstrating the connexion between the 2 lands which were both a aprt of the Gondwanaland.

Frogs

Madagascar does not have any salamander, bullfrogs or caecilians. But enjoys more than 150 species of frogs, all edemic with the exception of two (Rana tigerina et Ptychadena mascareniensis). Thes frogs are mostly found in the eastern forest. In Andasibe alone, more tha 50 species of frogs have been discovered.
