Big parts of the west of Madagascar are mountainous. Only a few people live there. In fact, most of the region is uninhabited, only some roads exist. Vegetation beside the river is great. We get to know the area by a pirogue tour and we visit the limestone needles of Bemaraha. We will look for lemurs in the private Kirindy reserve. The west is also well known for the fabulous Baobab-alley near Morondava and its nice beaches. It is our interest as visitor to contact the people. In this country, it seems to be time has come to stop. Madagascar is a great country with friendly and patient people.
Note: as not all parts of Madagascar are accessible all the year, this tour is only available from May to October.
Day 1 Going by car to Miandrivazo. Here is the starting point of the pirogue tour. Hôtel Le Gîte de la Tsiribihina.
Day 2- Tuesday 26th september
In the morning, we start going down the Tsiribihina River. The trip is slow and you can relax. Sometimes, the boat has to be pushed over a sandbank. Meals are served on the shore, three nights in tent.
Day 3 Today we continue the going down. At Anosin' Ampela, a wonderful waterfall where you can take a shower and if you want also clean your clothes.
Day 4 We continue to pass the Gorge de Bemaraha with its steep rocks. We may see some lemurs and other animals.
Day 5 Also this part of the trip leads us to beautiful landscapes. Arrival at Belo sur Tsiribihina in the afternoon. We walk to the hotel. We stay at Hotel du Menabe.
Day 6 Early morning tour in the reserve of Kirindy. Interesting landscape during the transfer to Morondava. We visit sacred baobab, baobab in love and the famous baobab alley. Le Renala Au sable d’or.
Day 7 After the strain of the last days we can relax in at Le Renala Au sable d’or in Morondava. - End of service after breakfast. -
